Make your move

Year: 2017
Client: RMIT University

To move us, that’s the purpose of architecture.

A poetic take on the role of the architect, to promote the Master of Architecture programme at RMIT University (Saigon South campus).

I was in charge of the concept and script.

Script:

Move.
Move.
The movements of a city, an everchanging landscape, crafted by the architect.
The choreography of ‘we’, as individuals, as communities, as a society.
The advance of form, not for mere function, but for innovation.
The saturation of possibilities, capturing our imagination, and changing perspectives.

To draw from the past, through the present, in projecting the future.
To speculate through emerging technologies, and amplify experiences.

To move us, that’s the purpose of architecture.

Notes are to music as words are to writing.
But architects use spaces and forms.

From technology to material and event
These poetic phrases of architecture are brought together
in the places and cities that define our cultures

So you, the architects of the now
This is the time to take risks,
To be ambitious,
To take on the economic, social, or environmental challenges
that this day and age has to face.

This is where technology empowers ideas and effort achieves realisation
Where collaboration enables invention
and experiment breaks ground for new practices
Where you start to shape, to shift, to make, to design
Not just one city, but a whole region
Not just for today, but for tomorrow

This is where you make your move.
