About me

I’m a Vietnamese writer currently based in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

Before 2018, I was working in the film and media industry in Vietnam for an indie production house, making commercials, social media content, and documentaries. In 2018, I moved to Europe to take part in Kino Eyes, a filmmaking Erasmus Master’s degree (specialising in scriptwriting).

Thus began my nomad’s journey: often strange and entirely unexpected. My path has led me to Europe-hop as I lived and worked across several countries: Portugal, Scotland, Estonia, and now the Netherlands. I’ve penned several short films that were welcomed at a few European festivals, such as PÖFF Shorts (Estonia), In The Palace ISFF (Bulgaria), Tampere Film Festival (Finland), and Limburg Film Festival (Netherlands).

In 2023, I received a grant from the Saari Artist Residence to spend three months in a remote bay area in Finland to start work on my first novella ‘To The Moon’. In the same year, I won the Hypewriter Pitch Forum in Hungary with the series ‘Be Happy, or Else’. And in January 2024, I made my directorial debut with the short film ‘Old Miss’.

I love to explore themes such as lost and found, home and elsewhere, characters who get caught in the in-between, questioning their truth and navigating their realities by crafting a sort of ‘Third Space’. I’m also interested in exploring cross-media storytelling using text, photos, sound and video.
